Vitamin B12 Benefits and Problems Related to Deficiencies

By Alex Trem
There are people that are dependent on vitamin b12 injections. People with pernicious anemia for example really need the injections because their bodies do not have the ability to absorb nutrients from the food that they eat. Being vitamin b12 deficient makes the body become more vulnerable to different diseases.

Lately, there are other ways by which vitamin b12 can be put in the body like taking multivitamins everyday and having nasal sprays. However, even though taking multivitamins is safe, the effect is not as great in comparison to the injection. It is also not sure whether or not the amount of B12 present in multivitamins is enough for the needs of the person.

People who are deficient in b12 are recommended to take intramascular injections at the dosage of 1mg per month or take 500 to 1000 mg of Cobalamin every day. In the long run, the injections become cheaper than the oral prescriptions. Taking injections every month will make people become less prone to heart diseases and strokes. Doctors also recommend the injections more because it is classic and it makes the recovery of patients easier and faster.

As people become older, the body becomes more prone to vitamin b12 deficiency symptoms. People who have been detected to have vitamin b12 deficiency are recommended for b12 shots even though they do not have pernicious anemia.

According to some experiments, vitamin b12 benefits have been proven to stop people from having progressive memory loss and lethargy. This is because there are studies that show that this vitamin can actually be used as a cure for neurological disorders.

Just recently, there are also studies that show that it can also be used to de stress the body. It has already been mentioned earlier that it can help the brain therefore it can also be used to relax the person. This plus the fact that it can make people become healthier makes this vitamin an obvious addition to any healthy diet!

In case that you would still opt to take oral prescriptions or medications instead of the injections, it is safer that you consult your physician first. This way, the correct dosage can be given to you. Too much of the prescription can still be bad for you even though there are few cases wherein something bad happened because of too much Cobalamin.
